Pollution Reporting Procedure
Unfortunately the Environment Agency will not accept reports of pollution by a third party, therefore, if you spot pollution and want it reported you need to do this yourself by using the following procedure.
1. Note the what3words location of the pollution.
2. If the pollution extends over a long distance it would be useful to use the what3words location of the start and end of the pollution.
3. Take photographs of the pollution involved.
4. Take note of what is involved ie. Oil, domestic waste, sewage, etc.
5. Note the weather conditions at the time particularly in reference to rain and snow melt.
6. If pollution is on the River Aire the water level would also be useful and can be found at- https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/station/8189?direction=u
7. Note the weather conditions for the previous two days.
8. Call the environment incidents team on 0800 807060 or online at gov.uk.
9. Submit the above information along with your contact details, the photographs etc can be sent to the email address the Environment Agency will give you.
